S902 EG/LFO Level Converter

Product Description

(This module is included in the System B)

If you’ve been wondering why LFOs go too far with modulation some times, this module is useful for you.

In SoloRack. Envelope generators output levels range from 0V to +1V. While LFOs range from -1V to +1V. This means that LFOs have double the level range of EGs. It also means that LFOs are bi-polar (+/-) while EGs are uni-polar (+).

Some times, it’s useful to have an LFO act like an EG or vise versa. And thats the main purpose of the S902. The module has two special In/Out patch points that can act as inputs or outputs. If you feed in an LFO at the LFO In/Out you will get the same LFO but with EG levels at the EG In/Out. If you feed in an EG at the EG In/Out you will get the same EG but with LFO levels at the LFO In/Out.

A third output patch point is provided labeled -0.5V to +0.5V. This will convert an LFO or EG that you feed in to that range. This is useful for example when you want an LFO to stay bi-polar but you want it half range.

A good example for using this module is when applying LFOs on some CV inputs that have an attenuator (knob) with a crossed line between them*. Some of these inputs expect voltages from 0V to +1V. And otherwise may produce unpredictable results when they are fed with the -1V to +1V range. For example, the stereo CV input in the S616 or S626.

*i.e the knob works as anttenuator only when a cables is connected. Otherwise, the knob will have a different function. Usually an offset.
