An attenuator scales down any voltage at it’s input, basically the opposite of an amplifier. The S904 offers either voltage control or manual (knob) control of the attenuation amount. The manual control works only when there is no cable connected to Attn CV input. But when there is a cable there, the Attn knob works as an attenuator for the Attn CV input.
Both positive and negative (inverted) output is provided.
