SD14 Clock/Sync To MIDI

Product Description

(This module is included in the System B)

The SD14 converts CV clocking and syncing (transport) to MIDI. Whenever a clock is received at the Clock In a MIDI clock message is sent. Sync is works in the following manner:

1.When Reset In goes instantly from low (<0.15) to high (>0.25) voltage (during one sample) a START MIDI message is sent.

2.When Reset In goes from high voltage (>0.25) to mid or low voltage (<0.25)  a STOP MIDI message is sent.

3.When Reset In goes from mid voltage (between 0.15 and 0.25) to high voltage (>0.25) a CONTINUE MIDI message is sent.

4. Any other movement in the Reset In will NOT result in any MIDI messages. For example from mid to low or from low to mid voltage.

A clock multiplier is built in. Tweaked by a knob that chooses the multiplier factor. Choices are 1,2,4,8 and 24 (from left to right). This is useful because MIDI devices (that follow the standard) expect clocks to be sent 24 times per quarter note.

It should be noted here that clock multipliers are fundamentally less accurate than dividers specially when the incoming clock is slowing down. However, an advantage here is that the SD14 multiplier will continue sending MIDI clocks if the incoming clock stops. This is useful for manually creating a tap tempo clock using the S709 or similar.
